📚💧 Highlights from our recent Board Meeting!
We were thrilled to spotlight our Teacher Grant recipients and the young scientists from La Costa Canyon High School, Capri Elementary, and the Encinitas Union School District Farm Lab, who wowed us with their creativity and curiosity. They reminded us just how bright the future of water truly is! 🌟👏
🚛💧 Bringing Wastewater Education to Life at La Costa Heights Elementary! 🏫🌈
Our LWD Field Service Technicians (FSTs) recently visited Kindergarten and 2nd grade classes at La Costa Heights Elementary – both recipients of our Teacher Grant Program!
LWD is committed to the upkeep of over 200 miles of sewer lines, many of which run beneath streets and some through private properties. To ensure access for maintenance, we own easements above these lines, which are cleared regularly, some as often as twice a year, to facilitate easy access to manholes.
This access is crucial for our Field Services Technicians to perform necessary cleanings and inspections, helping prevent potential sewer spills. If there's an easement on your property, we'll notify you with a door hanger to arrange an inspection.
🌧️ Rainy Days = Hard at Work Behind the Scenes 🌧️
While we will be dodging puddles and watching the skies this week, our LWD Field Service Technicians (FSTs) are out proactively inspecting and maintaining our sewer system to ensure everything continues to flow smoothly.
Heavy rain can overwhelm systems, but thanks to routine cleaning, smart monitoring, and rapid response, we prevent spills before they happen. It’s quiet work - but crucial to protecting public health and our environment.
💪 A big thank you to our FSTs who work rain or shine!
