In 2015 the Leucadia Wastewater District (District) developed a Hazard Preparedness and Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP was developed in order to identify potential natural hazard vulnerabilities and prioritize hazard mitigation measures on a hazard-level, vulnerability and probability basis. Subsequently, the HMP was updated in 2021.
The goal of the HMP is to reduce the potential for damage to District’s infrastructure from natural hazards to protect the environment and public health. The overall approach to the HMP included developing a baseline understanding of the natural hazards to the District (hazard identification and risk assessment), hazard vulnerability analysis, determining ways to reduce risks, and prioritizing mitigation recommendations for implementation.
