Learn how sixth grade teacher Katie Oberman will use her teacher grant at El Camino Creek Elementary.

Students will learn how to save water through planting and caring for drought resistant plants around campus, watering those plants with water collected from the school’s existing rain barrels and caring for the food grown in the hydroponics tower by measuring the conductivity and pH of the water. Students will analyze the claim that hydroponics uses 80% less water than conventional gardening and construct arguments for how to grow food and decorative plants more efficiently.

We’re excited to follow along as students learn about the importance of conserving water!
