Congratulations to our Teacher Grant Recipients! 🍎
We awarded $5,535 in teacher grants to fund four water/wastewater projects to local schools in our service area.
We had excellent submissions this last fall and are pleased to announce the winners of the 2022-2023 Teacher Grant Program: Katie Oberman of El Camino Creek Elementary, Kristie Mahin of El Camino Creek Elementary, June Honsberger of Official La Costa Canyon High School, and Nancy Jois of Capri Elementary.

Did you know that the District offers a financial assistance program that can reimburse homeowners 50% of your sewer lateral repair costs, up to a maximum of $3,000? The lateral grant must be pre-approved, so contact us before you begin repair work on your sewer lateral.

During Director Brown's tenure on the Board of Directors, LWD maintained one of the lowest wastewater service fees in San Diego County while providing an extremely high level of service to LWD's customers.

Below is a checklist of ways to prepare for upcoming rainfall:
✅ Start capturing rainwater now for later use! This reduces runoff to the ocean, ​​keeping harmful pollutants from reaching beaches and waterways.
âś… Proactively turn off irrigation to save water and minimize runoff.
âś… Do not open or lift manhole covers in the event of street flooding.
A well-deserved congratulations to Field Services Supervisor Gabriel Mendez for receiving his Grade 4 Collection System Maintenance certification from the California Water Environment Association!
Gabe, who was recently promoted to his supervisory role, has been working hard on his own time for this achievement while maintaining his full time duties at LWD since September 2011.
We are grateful to Gabe in his dedication to keeping our community safe and clean.
