Since our last post announcing our new Easement Machine, our Field Services Technicians have started learning how to operate this new gadget! You may have seen us training on the Rancho La Costa Ridgeline Trail with the City of Encinitas.

The Easement Machine is a self-propelled machine that can extend up to 600 feet of hose to clean pipelines in hard-to-reach areas. The Easement Machine is a cost-effective solution that will allow the District to clean those difficult areas more safely and by using less manpower to complete the task.

Do your part for Plastic Free July ♳

According to Plastic Oceans, we are producing over 380 million tons of plastic every year and more than 10 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans every year.

We deeply care about the state of our oceans, as the District pumps back secondary treated water from the Encina Water Pollution Control Facilities that would normally go out their ocean outfall to our Gafner Water Recycling Facility.

We're proud of our team for recycling 250 acre feet of water despite challenges endured throughout the last year!

It's summertime and we're feelin fine ☀️

Thanks to local resident Judi Westlake for sending in this coastal view of one of our many beaches.

We love sharing your captured moments, so feel free to tag your nature shots with #LWDPhoto or email them to info@lwwd.org.

We must all do our part to conserve water in these dry times 💧

Are you aware of how much water you're using everyday? Everyday tasks such as brushing your teeth, showering and washing dishes make use of this vital resource.

Have you thought about how much water your household consumes? Water usage adds up when you account for irrigation and household appliances like dishwashers and laundry machines.

The District maintains more than 220 miles of underground sewer pipes to serve our residents and businesses.

Wastewater from your neighborhood flows through these sewer pipes and ultimately to the regional Encina Wastewater Plant for treatment. While most of our sewer pipes are located under public streets, some are located in difficult to reach areas such as canyons and private property.

The District wants to extend a warm welcome to our new Director Chris Roesink.

Chris Roesink was appointed to the Board of Directors on June 9th during a Board meeting. Mr. Roesink, who will represent District 1, is a third-generation San Diegan and 15-year resident of La Costa.

He has served on various local Boards and Committees in years past and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration degree from San Diego State University.

We hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!

For those celebrating with a BBQ, please remember to put your #Grease and #Fat in a tin can to cool, and once cooled, throw it in your trash.

Fats, oils, and grease poured down a drain can clog up your sewer line, our main sewer lines and potentially cause a #Sewage spill or backup into your home. If you celebrate the 4th at the beach, please pack out what you brought in and pick up an extra piece of trash to help keep our beaches clean.

Thank you for doing your part to #ProtectThePacific!
