Today, try to Imagine a Day Without Water. This national education campaign is the seventh annual day to raise awareness and educate America about the value of water.
No water to drink, or wash your hands with. No water to shower, flush the toilet, or do laundry. Hospitals would close without water. Firefighters couldn't put out fires and farmers couldn't water their crops. Disease would spread.
On this upcoming Saturday, October 23rd from 10am-2pm, turn in prescription drugs safely and anonymously for The DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Even though it starts with a "P", Prescriptions are not one of the 3 P's that belong in your toilet. Prescription drugs aren't always broken down in the treatment system, and the compounds can end up in the ocean if flushed. Exposure to even low levels of drugs can be detrimental on fish and other aquatic species, and may also negatively affect human health.
You may have heard of the oil spill in Orange County, causing roughly 126,000 gallons of oil to gush into the Catalina Channel, creating a slick that spanned about 8,320 acres.
This is an environmental catastrophe, killing fish and birds and threatening ecologically sensitive wetlands.
Assessment teams are checking our coastlines in San Diego County for any visible signs of oil.
Much clearer disposal information for wet wipes is coming to a shelf near you! After years of legislative work, Assembly Bill 818 has been signed into law by the Governor! This bill establishes the strongest “Do Not Flush” wipes labeling & public education requirements in the country. This is a huge win for consumers, infrastructure, for the environment, and for the wastewater sector!

Check out how science teacher, June Honsberger from Official La Costa Canyon High School used her teacher grant to fund her project, the Native Tree Garden and Outdoor Classroom 🌳
Biology and Chemistry students researched native trees and plants, discovering which native plants support the Western monarch butterfly population. Since their return to campus, students have planted trees and plants to create four butterfly gardens that they will continue to maintain throughout the school year.
