Happy Thanksgiving from Leucadia Wastewater District🍂

Are you frying your turkey this holiday season? If so, you might need to dispose of a large amount of cooking oil.

Your first instinct might be to dump the oil, either outside or down the drain, but both of these options can have negative environmental effects.

Virtual Tour Series Coming Soon🎥

While we miss hosting you at our headquarters in La Costa, we love showing you how our team keeps our sewer operations running 24 hours a day through our videos. Our videos explain how our pump stations work right below our streets, how we recycle water to be reused to irrigate a local golf course, and highlight the team that makes it happen.

With the holidays approaching, there’s sure to be lots of cooking with plenty of oil, so be sure to keep a lid on it—a FOG can lid that is. The correct way to dispose of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) is by letting them cool, pouring them in a can, sealing the can with a lid, then throwing it in the trash. Pouring FOG down your drain can potentially cause a sewer backup in your home and may lead to a sewer spill.

World Toilet Day🚽

World Toilet Day is a United Nations Observance that celebrates toilets and raises awareness of the 4.2 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. It is about taking action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

What Not to Flush🚽

Our utmost priority is safety for the community and to our team members. Recently at our Board meeting, we were recognized for 1 year without lost time work related injury. Thank you to our team for taking safety seriously and to the community for looking out for our team whenever you see them working on the streets locally.

Happy America Recycles Day♻️

Individual recycling action and behavior are themes of this year’s America Recycles Day®, a Keep America Beautiful national program and the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States.

In its 23rd year, America Recycles Day (ARD), Nov. 15, educates people about the importance of recycling to our economy and environmental well-being and helps to motivate occasional recyclers to become everyday recyclers.
